Dear Neighbor Letter - II

Dear Neighbor,

2020 has been a year to remember, has it not. We have faced a world-wide pandemic, civil unrest, economic distress, and political upheaval. During the past year many have suffered unspeakable losses, deep depression and anxiety. With these truths before us it’s no wonder people are searching for new leadership. Sadly however, true – long lasting help will not come from a vaccine. It will not come from an economic turn-around, and history has proven that true help will certainly not come from a change in leadership in Washington, DC. No, the long-lasting help that humanity needs can only be found in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Jesus told us in John 3:16-17, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” This is what the world needs above everything else – a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.

You can have this saving relationship with Him. But there is one stipulation, and it is this… you have to acknowledge that you’re a sinner and you’re incapable of saving yourself. Furthermore, the sinner has to repent of their sin and accept Jesus as the Savior of their soul and the Lord of their life. This eternal gift is only a prayer away. And the prayer is a simple, yet profound one. Simple pray something like this: O Lord my God, I confess that I am a sinner. I confess that I cannot save myself. I repent of my sins and accept Jesus Christ, your Son, as my atonement for sin. Open my heart to receive Him as the Savior of my soul and the Lord of my life. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

The Bible teaches that if you truly believe and confess the substance of that prayer, then you are saved eternally. And if you have, I want to welcome you into the family of God. And my 2021 prayer for you is that you would develop a deeper, more personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Because I am confident that He will supply you with unspeakable spiritual strength to endure the life ahead.

In Christ,

[Your name if you wish, here]
